Scott Davis enlightened our group in May by showing what programmers who like to focus on code can do with the power of XAML.  Using Microsoft Expression Blend, Scott walked through a few examples of creating reusable button controls in XAML, without the need for a graphic designer to be involved (or be minimally involved).  Scott demonstrated how to create a glass bevel effect button in a few minutes, and made it reusable control that only needed its Text property changed.  Additional examples showed how to use clipping paths and effects to create interactive buttons and images.

While you may not want to always cut designers out of the development process, Scott showed how mere programmers can pretend to be designers (and do a pretty good job of it!) for small teams or rapid prototypes.

Scott is also one of the founding members of @Qonqr, and explained the history of the game.  Needless to say, he walked out of the meeting with a few recruits.
